We are looking for a versatile and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer, reporting to the Senior Director
of Engineering. You will work as part of the development team to develop hardware that supports both the
hyperspectral imaging and product authentication platforms. The successful candidate will have key skills needed
to design, build and characterize optical mechanical systems, test and validate our hyperspectral camera optical
and subsystems and support existing hyperspectral systems in the field. The optimal candidate will also have
experience with industrial cameras and instrument control.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead opto-mechanical design development and maintenance of product specifications, requirements
documents, risk and hazards analysis, design FMEA, usability, and other technical documentation - Provide technical leadership for product design, development, integration, testing, and reliability
improvements - Be a key technical contributor working with team of engineers on hyperspectral camera system hardware
development, optical bench test, system alignment, calibration, validation, debug, and transfer to
manufacturing - Guide and review hardware specifications
- Monitor and manage the efforts of third-party vendors and suppliers, define product or component
specifications, qualification efforts, and development schedules
Job Functions:
- Be a key player in the development and commercialization of our next generations of readers
- Develop innovative design solutions for TruTag Readers and Hyperspectral Imagers
- Work closely with System, Application and Manufacturing Engineers to design custom equipment, jigs and
fixtures - Perform assembly, alignment and calibration of prototype and pilot production devices
- Develop and revision control design documents, BOMs and procedures
- Generate engineering requirements documents and SOWs
- Work with domestic and international development partners and contract manufacturers
Desired Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- 2+ years of design experience using SolidWorks and other advanced CAD tools
- Innovative “out of the box” thinker with demonstrated advanced design skills
- Knowledge of tolerancing, materials and materials processing technologies
- Opto-mechanical and/or Industrial design experience is a plus
- Willing to take on tasks outside of core expertise
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
