We are seeking an Imaging Application Scientist or Engineer to be a core member of its instrument development team. As an Imaging Application Scientist or Engineer, you will work as part of the development team to develop hardware that supports both the hyperspectral imaging and product authentication platforms. The successful candidate will have key skills needed to build and characterize optical bench setups, test and validate hyperspectral camera optical and electrical subsystems, support existing systems and help with production of new instruments.
Job Functions:
- Key technical contributor to the development of instruments based on hyperspectral Imaging technology.
- Being responsible for application and algorithm development, data analysis, and instrument performance testing
- Perform test data analysis and generate test reports
- Develop and execute test procedures, create test scripts and test setups
- Perform optical bench test for key subsystems
- Contributing to the development of hardware and software specifications and designs
- Define product or component specifications
- Support customer and marketing communications, development of procedures, manuals, document control, qualification/validation efforts, and monitor development schedules
Desired Skills:
- Strong understanding of optical and imaging systems, algorithm and software development
- Development of algorithms for the purpose of image classification using machine learning such as convolutional neural networks (CNN) and Support Vector Machines (SVM), etc.
- Experience with Python and C++. Qt a plus.
- Experience with industrial cameras, data acquisition systems, and instrument control
- Experience in performing troubleshooting on complex instrumentation, including optical, electrical, mechanical, and software components
- Hands-on experience with designing and building imaging setups for test
- Experience with multi-spectral and/or hyperspectral imaging systems a plus
Desired Education/Experience:
- Doctorate or Master’s degree in the physical sciences or engineering in same with experience working in imaging, machine vision or machine learning
- Willing to take on tasks outside of core expertise
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
