TruTag Technologies and Colorcon to Present Live Webcast on On-Dose Authentication Technologies

Webcast hosted by Pharmaceutical Technology will address regulatory and manufacturing considerations for implementing on-dose anticounterfeiting technologies for solid-dose drug products

EMERYVILLE, CALIFORNIA ─ October 4, 2016 — TruTag Technologies, Inc., a leader in product authentication, brand security, and data intelligence solutions, today announced that it is participating in a live webcast, hosted by Pharmaceutical Technology, to address the drug industries considerations when implementing advanced, On-Dose Authentication Technologies. TruTag’s president, Kent Mansfield, will also be joined by Dave Schoneker of Colorcon, a world leader in the development, supply and technical support of specialty excipients to discuss many aspects of this timely subject. This webcast will provide a comprehensive information source for professionals in the global pharmaceutical manufacturing drug development community and more specifically address the different technologies now coming to market, application considerations, and the industry guidance issued by the Food and Drug Administration for applying physical-chemical identifiers, or PCIDs, at the dosage level. The FDA provided this guidance to assist companies in preventing unauthorized diversion and falsification of solid dosage form drug products.

Geared towards product security and brand integrity teams, brand and product managers, senior level executives, and research and development personnel, the webcast will explore the purpose and features of the FDA’s PCID Guidance and how On-Dose Anticounterfeiting technologies can provide customized business intelligence and security at the pill level without the reliance on product packaging. The key learnings of the webcast will include:

  • Identifying the value of implementing an On-Dose Authentication solution featuring physical-chemical identifiers (PCIDs) and its impact on measuring and deterring diversion, drug falsification, and quality incidents;
  • Understanding how PCIDs can be simply and quickly implemented on existing products with minimal regulatory filings;
  • Understanding advanced application methodologies for integrating PCIDs to manufactured product, and how some of these have minimal effects on existing standard operating procedures, and do not require any additional manufacturing equipment;
  • Reviewing case studies of the testing and piloting of an On-Dose Authentication process with major players in the pharma industry.

“I’m very excited to co-present with Dave Schoneker, an industry leader who brings a wealth of expertise to this subject matter from his distinguished career at Colorcon, the industry leader in advanced coating systems and functional excipients. In particular, Dave was heavily involved in shaping the FDA’s PCID Guidance,” said Mr. Mansfield. “Also, Pharmaceutical Technology’s media platform helps us reach a global audience that will benefit from learning about the requirements and regulatory considerations of the FDA, why on-dose technologies are key to a multi-layered product security program, and how the right On-Dose Authentication solution will be effective in the fight against counterfeiting and diversion.”

This is the second webcast TruTag Technologies has conducted this year on this important subject. In March 2016, Mr. Mansfield co-presented with Ron Guido, former Vice President of Global Brand Protection for Johnson & Johnson on “How On-Dose Technologies are Changing Pharmaceutical Product Intelligence and Security.” The webcast covered recent developments in On-Dose Authentication applications and how the technology increases visibility and control within the global supply chain.

The upcoming webcast, which is titled, “Implementing On-Dose Anticounterfeiting Technologies for Solid-Dose Drug Products,” will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11am-12pm EDT. Click here for more information and to register: www.pharmtech.com/pt/drug.
