TruTag Technologies’ Anti-Counterfeiting Solution Featured at the 2014 Global Forum on Access to Safe Medicines

“Edible bar code” pioneer to demonstrate disruptive solution for the growing problem of pharmaceutical counterfeiting

HONOLULU, HI ─ March 31, 2014 — TruTag Technologies, Inc., innovator of an edible security platform that addresses the growing global problem of counterfeit and diverted drugs, will be featured at the 2014 Global Forum on Access to Safe Medicines, held in London, UK on April 2nd to 4th.

An international conference that attracts pharmaceutical industry brand owners, manufacturers, suppliers, security experts, and regulators in the field of drug anti- counterfeiting, the 2014 Global Forum on Access to Safe Medicines is currently in its eighth year. While the production and distribution of counterfeit medicine continues to put consumer safety at risk and erode the brand value and investment recovery of key drug companies, the Global Forum is a key event that brings together the best minds in medicine, technology, academia, and law enforcement to collaborate on the latest global trends and far-reaching solutions.

For the second consecutive year, TruTag Technologies will be featured at the Global Forum, where the company will demonstrate the latest in its covert security platform, including newly released detection equipment. TruTag microtags (“TruTags®”) are inert, edible, and can integrate directly into drug dosages without packaging or labels – much like fingerprints on a human being – for the direct authentication  of  medicines  in  the  field  using  portable  detection  equipment.

Moreover, millions of code combinations can be programmed into a TruTag®, a microscopic particle made of pure silicon dioxide, a well-known and trusted FDA approved ingredient that has been used for decades in drugs and food.

The TruTag security platform will help prevent counterfeiting, enhance the safety of food and medicine, improve tracking and logistics, assure product quality, and ultimately enable the Internet of Things.

The company has received worldwide attention by being selected a World Economic Forum 2014 Technology Pioneer as one of the most influential and innovative tech companies in the world, a finalist by The 2014 Edison Awards™, and a finalist for the category of market disrupter by Electronic Component News’ 2014 ECN IMPACT Award.

“The pharmaceutical industry has traditionally deployed various security technology features on its packaging and labels in an effort to remedy the rapidly growing problem of counterfeit drugs,” said Kent Mansfield, TruTag’s president. “TruTag’s security platform takes an entirely different approach and works by enabling the authentication of the medicine itself, without reliance on the packaging.” he added. “We are actively working with pharmaceutical manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to improve the security and traceability of medicine. We are looking forward to showcasing our latest advancements with the Global Forum community, and to connect with leading companies looking for an innovative security solution.”

About TruTag Technologies

TruTag Technologies is the developer of a leading edible, covert security platform to address the trillion-dollar global illicit product challenge and the $200 billion market for counterfeit drugs. The unique physical properties of TruTags® provide a vast library of available unique codes, which allow for tracking of high-volume, high-value items at product or even batch levels. This business information tool can be used in a variety of products, such as pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, food, electronics, industrial components, consumer goods, and medical devices.

The TruTag® security platform provides superior brand protection, enhances the safety and traceability of food and medicine, improves tracking and logistics, assures product quality, optimizes efficiency in clinical trial administration, provides informatics for product and component tracking through the supply chain, and enables the Internet of Things.
