New robust, low-cost camera technology expands potential applications for high-resolution hyperspectral imaging
EMERYVILLE, CALIFORNIA ─ November 22, 2016 — TruTag Technologies, Inc., a leader in product authentication, brand security, and data intelligence solutions, today announced that it has been chosen as an SPIE 2017 Prism Award Finalist in the Imaging and Cameras category for their new Hyperspectral Imager. The Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is a leading international competition that honors the best new photonic products on the market. Past winners include Dolby Systems, Hamamatsu and Raytheon.
TruTag’s Hyperspectral Imager displaces multi-spectral imagers that trade off spectral resolution for spatial resolution. It is the first fully-autonomous, cloud-connected device that delivers multi-megapixel images at 400 colors without utilizing any external processing. It allows the user to dynamically select the acquisition wavelengths and offers real-time processing for object identification and characterization, all in a small form-factor and battery-operated device.
“We are honored to have been named a finalist for the prestigious Prism Award, and believe this underscores the potential of small, cost-effective and high-resolution hyperspectral imaging in a diverse array of applications,” said Hod Finkelstein, Chief Technology Officer of TruTag Technologies. “This recognition confirms our belief that there is a substantial commercial need for high-performance hyperspectral imagers that are low-cost and concurrently offer both high spatial and spectral resolutions for partners outside of our product authentication and brand protection business.”
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at a gala ceremony held during the SPIE Photonics West 2017 in San Francisco, California.
